Waterfall Art - July 2008
Brooklyn Bridge on the Brooklyn Anchorage
Put on by the Public Art Fund in collaboration with the City of NY. This project is one of the most ambitious works of public art to date. Olafur Eliasson, the artist, has been traveling to New York since he was a student in the late 1980s, and he is inspired by the waterways that surround and flow through the City. The Waterfalls address his interest in highlighting our relationship to our environment. The New York City Waterfalls integrate the spectacular beauty of nature into the urban landscape on a dramatic scale. The utmost care has been taken to protect aquatic life. All the electricity used during the operation of the Waterfalls is one hundred percent offset by “green power”—electricity generated from renewable resources.

Great Saunter - May 2007
A World Famous Civic Event that attracts tourists and walkers from New York, other states, and countries. This spectacular 32-mile walk around the rim of Manhattan Island, starting early at South Street Seaport and ending there that evening. What we experienced:

- walked through 20 parks- experienced the cultural diversity of the City- enjoyed the Manhattan Waterfront Greenwayviewed the Statue Of Liberty-New Jersey- the Palisades- all four outer Boroughs- people fishing in the rivers- cherry trees in bloom and spring flowers- lunch in Inwood Park

Yes...Yes...Yes...we all know the story...being the overly ambitious girlie I am, I took on the walk 3.5 weeks after surgery, carried a huge backpack filled with a full size journal, camera, misc. and a change of clothes to go dancing after the walk. OKAY...not my best move! Needless to say I made only about 20 - 22 miles of the walk that day. Thanks to Bobby who rode his bike in...being the kind person he is helped me get home.
